For over a century, Poupart 1895 has matched growers’ passion with buyers’ needs, earning our place as one of the most recognised UK fresh produce specialist importers. Founded in London’s historic Spitalfields Market, we still trade with that original entrepreneurial spirit.
Today, as part of the AgroBerries Group, we sit alongside our sister companies: BerryWorld, marketing award-winning berries to retailers across Europe, and PrepWorld, Europe’s largest fresh-cut fruit specialist and a pioneer in value-added innovation.
Heritage In Every Box
From a single Covent Garden pitch to part of a global produce network, Poupart 1895 has evolved with the times.
Founder John Poupart built the business on two timeless principles: close ties with growers and an eye for the freshest fruit. By the 1900s, we were importing South African oranges; the 1920s put us on Covent Garden’s Central Avenue with branches at every major UK port.
We weathered the war, pioneered supermarket pre-packing, introduced kiwis, ugli fruit, and kiwi berries to the UK.
The late 20th century brought new momentum, via Hillsdown Holdings, the creation of BerryWorld, and a move into Argent Group, which paved the way for specialist divisions, including Poupart Imports.
Then, in 2025, under AgroBerries ownership, we adopted a new name: Poupart 1895. A name that honours our legacy and signals our commitment to the future opportunities within fresh produce.
